Hollywood-based music production company HillTop Records awarded big cash prizes to the winners of its Second Annual Online Music Festival for Songwriters over Labor Day Weekend. The festival was declared a success, and another is in the works for Summer 2013.

HillTop Records officially closed its Second Annual Online Music Festival for Songwriters to new songs and announced the big winners of this years prizes over Labor Day Weekend. This second installment of the annual event received so many great submissions that the music production company decided to award cash prizes to the runners-up in each of its five genre categories, as well as for Best in Genre, Most Liked Song (as determined by voting festival-goers) and Best Song of the Festival.
This years festivals first winner was Joseph A. Data, whose song Got To See You received the most like votes by attendees. The accomplishment won him $ 250 in cash. The Most Liked Song of the Festival, meanwhile, was American Grown by James A. Hereford; it received the most votes over the course of the entire festivaland it won him $ 500 in cash.
Other top music prizes went to the best and second-best song in each of the festivals five genres: The Best Rock Song was Spill by John Schora and the runner-up in the category was My Guitar Makes Me Play The Blues by Rick Brindell; the Best Pop Song was Healer of the Night by Lamont Hines and Saucey, and the runner-up was Just One by Judith Miles; the Best Country Song was A Woman Changes Everything by John Cirillo and the runner-up was But For Some Strange Reason by Buford Austin, Dan Wilson and IJ Wilson; the Best Gospel Song was Thanks To You by Chris Blackmore and the runner-up was How Can You Be Lost by Stephanie Epperson; the Best Urban/R&B Song was Hold You Tonight by Robert Burkhall and the runner-up was Lonesome Road by Antonio Smith. In each genre, the winner of the best song received $ 250 and the runner-up won $ 25.
HillTop Records also gave the HillTop Award (which allows the songwriter to have his or her winning song professionally arranged and recorded by HillTops acclaimed staff) to David Barnes, for his song Any Man Will Play Around With Fire. The Festival Blue Ribbon and Grand Prize of $ 1000 in cash for Best Song of the Festival, meanwhile, went to John Cirillo for his song A Woman Changes Everything. While the 2012 HillTop Records Online Music Festival for Songwriters is now closed, interested parties can still visit the official website to listen to the winning songs and to the songs that HillTop now recommends to music industry professionals. In light of the events great success, HillTop is planning to hold a third contest next summer. As always, it will be free to enter. Changes and improvements will be made to make the next festival even better than the last two. Suggestions from previous attendees and songwriters are welcome.
